Buying expired domain web site traffic wholesale can be quite simple, but there are a lot of different sources to buy from. Many of these wholesale sources use the same pools of traffic, but the wholesalers can charge wildly different membership and purchase fees.

Selecting a web site traffic wholesaler

When we were deciding which wholesaler to buy our traffic from , we approached several web site traffic wholesalers and bought traffic from them. And from talking to our own customers, some of them are doing exactly the same.

As we found possible suitable wholesalers, we created a mini site on an existing domain complete with tracking links and bought from them a small test campaign. In each case we bought a loans category campaign, but that was just because we could track this traffic easily.

From this trial we monitored how quickly and smoothly the traffic was delivered and the conversion rate (the number of sales) that were produced.

We did notice that the traffic from some wholesalers was delivered much slower and produced lower results than other wholesalers. The categories on some wholesalers were a lot more generalised and therefore harder to target.

Just because one wholesaler was the best last year, doesn't mean they are the best now. If the people responsible for tracking down and buying the domains change, the domains bought could be lower quality therefore the web traffic your buy from that wholesaler's site can also drop. Conversely, a wholesaler performing poorly last year might be much improved now.

Am I buying the same web traffic from two wholesalers?

It is quite possible that two wholesalers that appear to be different are actually selling to you from the same source. We found our leading wholesaler's traffic was also being sold by several other wholesalers, some of which charged significantly more to sign up and and purchase the traffic.

One way we identified possible wholesalers selling the same web site traffic was to look through their lists of categories. Looking through the various wholesale sites there are only a limited number of variations on the categories and demographic splits, leasing us to believe that there aren't that many different sources of traffic!
